Kabhi Kabhi was a hit Bollywood movie from 1976. While the new generations may or may not have watched the movie, we know the song, Kabhi Kabhi. It was written by Sahir Ludhianvi. Some of the words like 'shadaan' or 'humnafas' cannot be literally translated as they have layers of meaning. For instance, shadaan means that which is evergreen and prosperous, it also means a state of paradise. Humnafas means those that breathe together, it also means those whose breaths have entwined.
The reason it was introduced to the new generation was through a remix by Bally Sagoo. It is one of the rare remixes which was loved even by those who loved the original. The reason was the introduction of the shayari "Kabhi kabhi mere dil me khayal," into the song. It was beautifully rendered by Amitabh Bachchan in his deep baritone, making the remix more popular for the new generation than the original. Scroll down from the video for the lyrics...
