Welcome 2 Karachi Movie Review

Welcome to Karachi could have been a modern classic. If such great actors such as Arshad Warsi, Danish Hussian and (previously Irffan Khan,) had accepted roles in this movie, it is obvious that they had heard a good script. And really the movie has some good moments but the cliches overpower them. Let us see what the movie could have achieved. They could have taken notes from movies like Tere Bin Laden that manage to take this theme and explore it so well.

The movie has an opportunity to provide us an insight into the truth behind the association with Pakistan and violence that media and our government likes to perpetrate. Instead the movie stretch out the stereotypes too much. They do a little well with the American politics. But other than that there are no new insights.

If it were not for Arshad Warsi and his natural comic sense the movie wouldn't even be watchable one time. Jacky Bhagnani does ok in supporting him. Danish Hussain, of course, does well as the Pakistani Prime Minister completely adopting the language and style of the culture. There are other ensemble actors such as Pavan Malhotra and the actor who plays Azhar Baloch who are great.

Political movies are hard to pull. Even classics such as Jaane Bhi Do Yaaron is received differently by the modern youth which is ok but the movie takes a great theme and turns it into a farce, and not the good kind.

Also the movie was shot in UK and they used some parts of the city to look like Pakistan which is so fantastic. One would assume that there are many parts in India that could look like Pakistan.
